It is truly hard to fathom that in 2022, our reproductive freedom, a fundamental human right, is now at risk. At Delaware Institute for Reproductive Medicine, we strongly oppose the overturning of Roe v. Wade and the impact it will have on Reproductive Healthcare across the United States.
We will always support the privacy and rights of all people to make personal choices regarding access to life-saving care, reproductive treatments, and their embryos.
That will NEVER change.
EMBRYO STORAGE AND IVF AT DELAWARE INSTITUTE FOR REPRODUCTIVE MEDICINE
At Delaware Institute for Reproductive Medicine, your frozen embryos are currently safe, protected, and respected. No facet of IVF treatment at our fertility center – including embryo storage – has been affected by the recent overturning of Roe v. Wade. Additionally, via our partners at ReproTech, there will be no impact on embryo storage at their locations.
We will always advocate for and protect the reproductive freedom of our patients throughout Delaware – as well as individuals residing in states whose embryos are at risk.
EMBRYO STORAGE AND IVF IN DELAWARE
Delaware is presently considered a safe haven for IVF – where making personal, important decisions regarding your reproductive healthcare is considered an essential right. We continue to monitor this troubling ruling and the potential for additional states to enact further legislation that may affect reproductive care.
EMBRYO STORAGE AND IVF IN TRIGGER STATES
On the contrary, 13 states across the country have already taken the initial steps to ban abortion. These states have “trigger laws” in place that immediately ban abortion within 30 days of Roe v. Wade’s overturning. IVF may not be affected in these states; however, the definition of “personhood” in relation to the rights and storage of frozen embryos are of the utmost concern.
