DIRM offers single women, women affected by male factor infertility and lesbian couples fertility treatment options using donor sperm. These options include intrauterine insemination (IUI) and in vitro fertilization (IVF).
Patients select a frozen donor sperm sample from a catalog of donors. This sample is then shipped to our facility and stored for later use.
As every patient is an individual, so is their care. To better guide you on your fertility journey, your initial step is fertility testing. You will be asked to complete preliminary testing in an effort to develop a customized treatment plan to maximize chances at success.
Once your infertility cause has been determined, a personalized plan of treatment will be created. Several options are available from simple reassurance to the most cutting-edge assisted reproduction technologies (ART) such as intrauterine insemination (IUI) and in vitro fertilization (IVF).
You will select your sperm donor using the cryobank’s website. Sperm donors are anonymous, but the donors usually provide a childhood picture. The donor database offers personal demographics (i.e., hair color, height, race, etc.), as well as essays written by the donor. Some cryobanks even offer voice recordings of interviews with the donor and information on what celebrity the donor looks like. In some cases, recipients can view if previous pregnancies have resulted from that donor’s sperm.
DIRM is truly a place where dreams, through science, become reality.
