Workup for IVF

There are many steps to the IVF process, but try not to become too overwhelmed—that’s why we are here. Our dedicated and experienced IVF team will guide you through the process. Together, we will discuss what you can expect throughout the treatment process, educate you on all of the medications used before, during and after your cycle, and review what testing needs to be completed prior to the start of your cycle.
Once the preliminary testing for your IVF has been completed, an individualized treatment plan will be formulated to maximize your chances to achieve a successful pregnancy. You will receive information from us which will include the preliminary testing which must be completed prior to your IVF cycle. Your workup will include simple blood tests for you and your partner, Pap smear and cervical cultures, hysteroscopy (to evaluate the cavity of the uterus), uterine sound (a procedure to measure the depth of the uterine cavity to determine the placement of the embryo(s) in the uterine cavity), pelvic ultrasound to estimate the number of eggs we think we will retrieve from your ovaries, and semen analysis on your partner. Once your workup is complete, we will review with you the results and when your IVF cycle will start. We understand that you are excited to begin treatment as soon as possible and we will make every effort to initiate your cycle as soon as possible.
If you have any questions regarding the workup process, please do not hesitate to contact our IVF team.
